MISSION

"Making disciples who make a difference"

HISTORY

Project Help was established in 1967 through the cooperative efforts of Pastor Jim & Leona Wallace and the Churches of God General Conference. CGGC Pastor Wallace and his wife Leona had moved their family to Haiti in the early 1960's to work for the Oriental Mission Society (OMS) in Cap Haitian. CGGC had already established several international missions but were being forced to close a mission in Eastern Europe because of the spread of communism.

Desiring to not lose ground in establishing missions and sending missionaries to "go and make followers of all people in the world" the CGGC started discussions with the Wallace's about establishing a mission organization in Haiti. This was during the early years of the Duvalier control of Haiti and by good fortune Pastor Wallace had made friends with several high ranking Duvalier officials. This enabled us to have the choice of selecting from several government owned properties a location for our new mission. The final choice was a property at a place called Borel some 90 miles north of the capital This property complete with buildings was once part of the extensive Standard Fruit and Steamship Company's vast holdings in the L'Artibonite Valley.

PH Mission
The plan for the mission was to not only bring the "Good News" of Jesus Christ to the people of Haiti but to lift them up out of decades of bondage to poverty. Right from the very beginning along with the traditional evangelizing and church development the plan was to develop schools, health care, nutrition, agriculture, vocational training and community development. The name Organisation d' Assistance Evangelique d' Haiti was registered with the government and in 1967 President Francois Duvalier (Papa Doc) signed our documents authorizing our work in Haiti. We were for years commonly called Project Help by most English speaking people. Later Haiti was added and now simply PH-H serves as a recognized acronym. A lot of decades have passed as we approach 50 years of service to the people of Haiti. To stay relevant we continually adapt to new methods, technology and ministries but throughout the years we have stayed true to the vision of our founder,

" MAKING DISCIPLES WHO MAKE A DIFFERENCE".
