Making a Difference

Agriculture
Project Help from its earliest beginnings was involved in agriculture. Our main campus is located in the best irrigated farm land of Haiti. During the turbulent years of the late 1980's and 90's much of the Borel staff were relocated to Pierre Payen for safety reasons. When missionaries were sent back to reopen the Borel Campus several outreach ministries were never restarted and agriculture was one of them. After the earthquake a reevaluation was made as to what PH-H needed to do as a mission to help Haiti not only recover and rebuild but to move away from dependence to independence. God didn't place us in the middle of the "Breadbasket of Haiti" to not be involved in agriculture. Though not all the plans are finalized and funding sources are still being developed we are moving ahead. We are erecting two shade houses to grow vegetable seedlings and fruit trees for planting and distribution. We have several areas on the campus where demonstration growing areas for new varieties and techniques will be tried before moving into field production. We are looking into setting up honey bee production as well as sending equipment for processing to be used in a cooperative effort. A really big project that we still hope to do if funding can be secured is large scale growing of Tilapia fish in a controlled environment.
